Question MD Tech Heads

I'm pretty new to the hobby myself I was wondering what is the next big jump for metal detectors? It really doesn't seem that MD's have evolved quite as fast as other electronics.IE cell phones,I realize that the market drives their advancement but it wasn't that long ago that they were like talking into a large brick.

So I guess what my question is, what is the next great thing to hit metal detectors? Will it be a machine that has more acurate discrimination or more depth or something completely off the wall? Also what would you like to see in a metal detector?

i would think that more will turn to color screens and also maybe a touch screen, maybe better "sizing" features.

A Pi with good discrimination just like the VLF. A few new all terrain units. I would love to see an all terrain Sovereign.

I think imaging coils may become standard on vlf detectors. Currently imaging detectors require a 3rd set of copper coils in the loop but maybe an advancement will come along that allows easier (cheaper) implementation/integration of that 3rd coil. Other than that, I think major enhancements will continue to be better discrimination and target ID.
