My new detector has instructions to set the threshold until the hum is barely heard. Do I do this with the detector on the ground or in the air? I am thinking my failure to use it in wet sand today was my setup mistake. I set it in the air and it worked fine on dry sand. On wet sand it would not work in all metal or disc with any notch window settings. It gave a constant tone over wet. Soon as I was on dry again it worked great. Fun to figure these things out. I am having a blast! Thanks for any replies. I know it is a VLF machine and not as good in wet but maybe it is ME...I will try it tomorrow at the beach.
