Default Please help ID this item

This was dug up from a river bank. It is approx 10 inches in diameter. It is hollow and has 1 hole in it about one-half inch in diameter. All ideas are welcome and appreciated. HH

That has been suggested. It's made of brass and the walls aren't very thick. Thanks for the input. HH

It very well could be a buoy. There are no marking on it that are visiable. I was also thinking it could be from on top of a flag pole. Thanks for the suggestion.

A practice ball is as good an idea as any I've heard. Thank you for your help.

First of all, approximately how much does it weigh? How do you know it is hollow? By the one hole that is in it? Is the hole threaded? Can you guess what it is made of? If it is the top of a flagpole, then by the scale of the other objects on the table, the flagpole probably would be more than your typical 20-30 foot height.

It weighs about 5 pounds. It was filled with mud and washed out. The hole is not threaded. It seems to be seamless brass.

Hi CI Guy, that's an idea I haven't thought of. I've seen some huge fireplaces. Thanks. HH

......may have been a "Float" stopper. Large version of a toilet bowl shut-off float.

Hi Charlives, nothing definite. Several good suggestions though. Thanks for checking. HH
