Default How much of an upgrade is the Garrett AT PRO over the Ace 350?

Since I'm beginning to find better things with my one month old Ace 350, I'm starting to raise enough money for a new AT Pro.

I'm curious as to how much of an upgrade the AT is over the 350? What are the pros and cons of both when compared side by side?

I had the 350, my first MD, for about a month and traded it in for the AT Pro. The AT Pro is very nice because:

1. the display (VDI) give you a 2 digit number for what it think the target is which I find to be very accurate. Quarters/dimes, etc aren't all lumped together on the display.

2. STANDARD mode on the AT Pro is just like the 350, very easy to use. I use STANDARD mode all the time, I like it better and most of my areas are not trash so I don't need the PRO mode.

3. the AT Pro auto ground balance is very nice feature.

Those are the reasons why "I" like the AT Pro over the 350.

It's also got a higher freq (15 kHz) which works better on gold....

AT Pro also has better iron discrimination. One of my favorite features is the pro audio mode - really really cool.

I evaluated an AT Pro for two weeks. Great machine, BUT ..

Standard Mode kills your depth. Pro Mode rocks.

Tested in both and no question about it.

I do not think loss of depth will be too big of an issue for me. Almost all of my targets were within 2-4", only a couple were 6-8".

Time to start saving up the $600 for the AT Pro!

I use standard mode because I never dig more than 4 or 5". With the digger I have it would be hard to go deeper. Alot of the time, especially now with the heat and dry grass, I dig only those targets that I can get a fix on with my ProPointer.

Regarding price, don't you dare pay $600. Send PMs to the sponsors here and get one for around $500.
