Default Evening hunts or daytime hunts....

Got a question for all the water/beach hunters out there.
Aside from when the low tide occurs...

Which do you prefer and why...Daytime beach hunts or nightime beach hunts ...
Just want to know your opinions,
have a good day!
Nick

I live in the shark bite capitol of the USA, sharks feed at night, so I don't hunt at night. Easy decision for me.

I prefer the morning because I can see! And when I get to the beach at 5 am I am the only one there. Plus for the next few hours the only people that are on the beach are the morning runners.

Around sunset is fine too, but anytime after 10 pm can be frustrating plus I feel like im always looking over my shoulder for people around at night. I have never had a problem its just creepy wondering around at night with a metal detector And forget about going in the water, not gonna happen. Back when I hutned La Jolla more frequently I saw all kinds of sea life in the water (stingers, jellys, small sharks, seals).

I agree CanSlaw, easy decision--- not into sharks!

Gamblur, that's exactly the way I'm thinking, anytime after 10 can be a little
creepy.Early in A.M. sounds relaxing especially if low tide is there. I think if low tide comes up after midnight,I would wait.

It would depend allot on the beach. At Virginia Beach, there is enough light from the hotels and boardwalk to make night hunting possible and convenient. It is great to cool off and enjoy the sea breeze. I love night time hunting there.

Early morning only for me. Where I live, walking around at night with a $1,000 detector is asking for trouble. Lots of people willing to give you the trouble...

Second week I took up water hunting, in the early morning, a shark
came within 5 feet of me.

I only do late mornings when there are other folks in the water,
the more the merrier.

I think low tide early mornings are best because if you think about it - the day before most swimmers are high up on the beach all day long. I live in the Cape Canaveral area and seem to see more sharks in the morning (usually just 3 foot black tip or smaller) and see more sting rays in the evening--I will take a shark over a stingray any day!! Actually had a ray attack my coil a couple weeks ago and I hear they do have some nasty little teeth and strong jaws!

If the visibility is clear I will go chest high - in my area that can be maybe 75 yards out at low tide because the beaches are very shallow here. But if the water is murky, like the Atlantic usually is here, I keep it to waist level or lower. One thing I have found is it is not necessarily true that the farther you go out the better targets...it all depends on what the tides and the waves were like in the past few days. Have found most of my good stuff in very shallow water actually!
