Default 1970S Kennedy Half?

Hey all!
Was wondering how rare are the 1970 S and D silver halves...
Any value to them? I heard they were very rare, but the red book doesn't seem to agree with that, value-wise?
Thanks!

Neither on was released for general circulation. The SF mint was in a proof set and the Denver mint was only issued in the yearly mint un-circulated set. Both are worth a little above silver content if you found them in the wild. They are rare to find in the wild, but not still in the annual sets issued.

Default Thanks

Thanks for the info...
Seems I have been through a million bucks in halves and never seen on.
Thought they might be mega rare.

You don't find the 70-D in circulation very often. I think the last one I found was 8 months ago or so. The proof is just about as infrequent because it is 40% silver also and people have been culling them from circulation.

You can do a search on ebay to see what people are actually paying for them. If you're trying to build a whole set, then these coins are a must and DO go for a premium over melt. Congrats on finding it! : )

Nice find WTR25! I'm still looking for my first '70 S from circulation.
