Default Question about selling...

I know thread doesn't belong here, but I think it's the best place to ask...

I'm about to list my Fisher F2 (in these classifieds), and not sure what to price it at, I know what I want for the detector, but don't know how much shipping is going to cost me.

I've never shipped something large like a metal detector. How much does shipping a lightweight detector in the US cost? What kind of shipping method do I use?

I don't have a paypal account, is asking for a Money Order for payment alright?

Thanks in advance.

You can find the weight of many detectors on KellyCo's comparison chart. You can also compare shipping costs for that same weight on the USPS website as well as UPS and FedEx.

I normally use usps priority mail or if I get into town I use UPS. Depending the distance normally a detector can be shipped for less than $20.00 I have done plenty of business with alot of the old timers that had no paypal account and never had a problem (knock on wood). a money order works fine.

Default Here is what I do..

Budget $25.00 for Shipping (UPS) which gives you up to $200.00 insurance in the basic shipping price. Also think about packaging ($5.00). Ask for a United States Post Office Money Order - it's like cash! - There u go!

Thanks for the info guys.

So I would just tell the post office/ups that I want standard shipping and insured, and hand them the box? Then they will weigh it and hit me with the price?

Sounds easy enough.

You don't have to insure it but it is a good idea, don't forget to put delivery confirmation on it if you use usps.

Amen to insurance (hopefully you have a record of the original price), and delivery confirmation is automatic (free) on items insured for more than $200.....
