I'm thinking of purchasing a White's M6, but am having a hard time finding one on the floor of area White's dealers to test drive. Most of them carry a Prizm or two, and the higher end DFX, but nothing else. Is the M6 new, or just not popular?

Yes brand new. I bought one in mid October, but due to snow ever since I purchased it, I have yet to use it except for once in the yard with a snowy, muddy mess. It has gotten really good reviews, and from what I can tell, I am going to really like it. I also got the 4x6 DD shooter coil to go along with it. I understand it is supposed to be killer with coins.

The M-6 is White's newest addition but it came out late November of 2005.

Unfortunately many Whites dealers are very small or just sell Whties as another item in their stores. Most don't stock everything.
The M6 is one of the better units Whites has and is very underrated for sure. With much of the power of the MXT and simple to use , it is a great goodie finder.

Tony... Just thinking, November of 2005 seems like a long time ago. Any news on what White's might be up to? Seems like they should have something in the works.
I'd like to see White's combine the features of the MXT and the M-6 into one, now that would be a dream machine. Just dreaming, DirtDigger |

have not heard anything from Whites. The MXT is already an "enhanced" versionof the M6. Not sure what you mean by combine the two
The MXT has extra features already.

For the first time ever I saw a White's commercial on TV. It was on a local channel, in the mid afternoon.

1- I like the ?S? rod of the M-6 better. 2. Multi-tone ID. 3. Beach Auto Trac mode switch. 5 . According to Greg Moscini who field tested the M-6 for White?s there is a software change to make the M-6 run smoother then the MXT. He refers to it as being the new refined ground tracking system http://forum.treasurenet.com/whites/....html#msg10578 http://forum.treasurenet.com/whites/...ic,1542.0.html DirtDigger |

I basically assumed you were talkig about software mostly.
I can understand where some wuld like the S handle over the grip on the MXT. The MXT already has the switch you mentiones it is SALT TRAC ON TRAC OFF. The software in the M6 is smoother and because of this it gets less depth than the MXT. Now if they could upgrade the MXT software to be able to jack up the sensativity and remain stable... that's an improvement I'd love to see.

I use the M6 over my MXT all the time. The only thing I dont like about the M6 is the 7 tone ID. It should be 3 or 4 tones, other than that I think its much better for coins than the MXT.

I agree with the 3 or 4 tone over the 7 tone, kinda drives you nuts. Good thing it has a single tone. I like the 3 tone of the Ace 250 but wish you could switch it to single tone as well.
