Default Earphones vs earbuds.

Is there a difference?

I personally hear the sounds better with an over the entire ear headphone. I have used earbuds and they work okay for me, but they hurt my ears after a while. I know some that love them though.

I do usually keep a pair of the earbuds in a pocket, in case I break my headphones though.

I am mainly interested in using the earbuds cause it is so dang hot out here. I really like the marshmallow earbuds as they do not hurt my ears. I gotta get an adapter first.

I have an adapter from years ago that reduces from 1/4" down 1/8", will this work for earbuds ? (Of course that is if I get the adapter for my At Pro)

Exactly! I just cannot believe Garrett is charging $40 for that adapter.

I know, I said the same thing. Cheapest I've found for the At Pro adapter is $34 free shipping

If it were me i would head to the nearest radio shack and ask them about what i need as far as an adapter. I'mm sure it will be alot cheaper.

Yeah I am gonna start looking tonight online, cause I have a few pairs of earbuds that I am willing to experiment with.

I like them in the heat, and they do sound different.
Few years back volume control buds were everywhere.

Cheap too, none of this $30-40 dollar stuff.
Ear piece/clip style, if like wearing big brim hats.

I'd go to a Guitar shop for that eighth to quarter adaptor.
Radio Shack is different now, kinda pricey too.

I like the buds or over ear style. At least I can still stay aware of my surroundings and hear the tones. I cannot stand the buttercups over my ears, feels too restricted and I lose some of my environmental awareness.

Biggest problem with ear buds is the lack of a volume control. Garrett detectors put out a lot of audio so something to knock that down to a decent level is a must for me.

here's your answer. Separate volume control to attach to ANY set of earbuds, or ones with built in (inline) volume control.

Yes, that 1/4 - 1/8 adapter will work fine for earbuds, however, like just mentioned, the lack of a volume control makes using earbuds a no-go for me, way too loud in my ear!

I use the over the ear type and usually wear them up by my temple area, so I can hear the beeps, and still hear people walking up on me.

Agreed. Plus I am starting to wonder if I am gonna get swimmer's ear from all of the sweat going on inside of those "buttercups".

Get a volume control, male 1/8, & female 1/8 jacks from RS and cut the WP end off the stockers.

Put the female end on the WP end and the male end on the stock headphones.

I use a single ear bud on my Ace250 w/volume control and won't go back to over the ear phones.
