I am jealous because our artifacts only goes back to the time of Columbus,or if lucky viking age and thats extremely rare. The thought of having something that old in my hands and imagining who had held it last is mind blowing. I guess you grew up around it and find it normal, but here to find even a small "insignificant item " that can be dated so far back would have us hooting and hollering if we ever visited. Please don't take our jealousy as being vindictive or hateful. You guys just have a better sandbox to play in lol.

I was born in Ruislip and then moved to the states and ended up here in Puerto Rico, an island boy at heart I guess.your find is amazing, my mother had a huge bag of roman and old coins she had found in her garden in Worcester. I thought they were better than pirates treasure growing up.Never did get back to the isles but maybe one day.Seeing Items from the British Isles always brings back good memories for me.But I am still jealous lol

Well I guess I missed something but can't imagine saying what I did triggered such a reply. For the record I am very familiar with what is dug in the UK and in my personal opinion a modern times silver crown doesn't not impress me as much as many things that are found.

I started detecting to find 100 year old coppers and never imagined I'd dig a 1777 8 reale in the first couple years, but I did. It's ugly as hell but beggars can't be choosers.
