Default Looking for some advise.

I just started this hobby a couple of weeks ago with the purchase of a Garret Ace 350.

It's great!

I have been out a couple of times and realize that now I want a waterproof detector for the beach since I live on the coast.

I want it to work on good on land and fresh water as well since I have a place to go in the hill country.

I have narrowed my selection down to the Garret AT Pro and the Tesoro Tiger Shark.

I will not be diving but will be using in waist deep water, (Salt and fresh) and on dry land.

Which do you recommend and why.

Thanks in advance.

AT pro is VERY hard to beat for what you described.

It looks like the atpro is what you need.

Hi! The problem is this, a VLF detector like the Tiger Shark, is only designed for FRESHWATER. It is not intended for use on wet saltwater beaches, or in Saltwater. The Tesoro Sand Shark, is a PI detector, that is not hampered by the conductivity of saltwater. The Garrett AT Pro is not suited for saltwater either. You would be better off just keeping the Ace 350 for dry sand, and getting a Sand Shark for getting in the water. You will not be able to discriminate out iron with the PI unit, but so what? My two-cents!

The member wants a detector for freshwater and dirt... a PI is not a good choice...

Either the Tiger Shark or AT Pro are fine for what you want... if it was me I would lean towards the Tiger Shark seeing how Garretts is having a few issues with the AT Pro...the Tiger shark is very good at picking up thin and small gold in freshwater... it has no display but most of my detectors don't as I prefer to tone hunt...again either will work well for you

Hi Craig! I thought he said he lived on the coast and wanted a water detector for the beach - as well as inland and freshwater. Just trying to clue a newbie in.

Default I have seen no mention of ....

the Fisher cz20 or cz21....both are locked on for saltwater, but would work reasonably well in both dirt and freshwater also. And what price range are you looking for?

You may have to settle for two...one for dirt and fresh water and the other for saltwater. If you can find what you want used in good condition, you may be able to afford both.
