Default Just what is considered falsing?

I have had my AT Pro for 2 months now and have about 35 hours on it and have found alot of clad (but no silver or gold). It has a 511 serail number. I see alot of talk about false signals but am I not sure what a false signal is. Sometimes I get a tone when I swing in one direction and not the other. Sometimes I get a few of these in a roll. And then I can move 50 or 100' away and it stops. I assume it is just junk that the AT Pro is trying to figure out what it is. And sometimes I hear a tone when I brush the coil on high glass when I am swinging. Maybe I am not keeping the coil level. So I am not sure if I have a problem and just living with it or not. Any input?

JC

Falsing is when you bump the coil into something and you get a extra tone or running it over wet grass sometimes gives a extra beep.. also running it hot the detector will false...

Falsing is your detector's discrimination rejecting things that are on the fringe of your setting and this can be exaggerated by several factors including high sensitivity, trashy areas, and wet ground.

the falsing issue i had with my AT pro was if i held the coil straight out in front of me parallel with the ground and gently rock the coil back and forth it would just chatter, this was done outside with nothing metalic around or EMF. it would also be very chatty while swingin the coil while detecting and (more than normal) and that wasn't even scrubbing the coil off the ground or hittin the coil off shrubs or limbs. after a call to garrett they recommended that i send it in for a checkup. after its return it was much more stable and worked great

I'm having an issue with my At Pro (week old) with getting a beep when swinging one way and then another beep swinging back . Then as I shorten my swings the signal disappears. I stop and try again and I get the signal but usually disappears at the shorts swings when trying to zero in on area. This happens alot with my pro in different areas. I usually never get a good pinpoint either, very tough to get an all bar with nice sound. When I do try to dig these signals I usually never get anything after digging a crater. Coins found in 1-3 inch range are no problem. This was the same as my 250 and was hoping the Pro would make the deeper coins easier to get.

Gotta make sure those coil wires are wrapped snugly around the shaft and firmly connected into the machine, if they are loose the machine will false. Do you have a coil cover?

coil covers protect the coil from nicks and dings (cosmetic damage), basically make it look pretty if taken off, they cost about 12-15 bucks. the only pain about a coil cover is having to remove it to clean. sometime dirt/grime/sand and other minerilized dirts can get between the cover and coil causing falsing or false readings. personally i used a spray on bed liner insted of a coil cover for my AT pro. it looks great, holds up great and no more removing the cover to clean.
p.s. just make sure the bedliner spray doesn't have a matalic base

I have a ace 300 & twice it completely went nuts. Beeping like crazy even pointing it straight up in the air it wouldn't stop. I was in a sandy volleyball court at the park. The next time it did it I was in a baseball field & went over the thing that ya drop the base down into. What causes it to need to be shut off to stop screeching?
