Saw another member post something like this with a large ring on his forefinger.
This won't work for me, so I adapted his technique. Get a wire hanger, where I hunt I find then in the ground sometimes. Just bend it around your thumb, without gloves or with, like me. Cut off or just bend till you get rid of the excess wire. I turn on my PP, if the target is deeper than the 2 -3 inches or so I already get, I just move my grip and thumb forward till the beeping starts, the back slightly till it stops...Super-tuned. This will be around the location of the switch where the magic happens. Don't have to mess around with any coins...have full control of the PP at all times...works well and not awkward at all. As a matter of fact, it has become second nature and I use this technique a lot more than I ever did before. Now, I am almost as fast at retrieving the deeper objects as I am with the shallow ones. I can locate those just out of reach targets now, and if I miss the target center, or it there is more than one object in or near the hole, this can find them even if my hand is in the hole up to my wrist. Get a hanger...try it...it works! HH __________________ |

Just how much does this method increase the distances you can find objects with, with the pin pointer?

Actually about 2" with a new battery and with some chirping, if not a solid tone. My range is now almost 4 inches, which is just about right for me. If the object is 3-4 inches or even deeper, especially if it's big, I can at least get a chirp or two as I drag the PP tip around the soil. I have been doing this for about a month and I am getting pretty good and very accurate on the deeper hits, now. Objects I could not locate till after I dug a plug, before. __________________ |

**This will also work on any pinpointer, personally I prefer
the old elastic band and washer method. __________________ |
