Coin Roll Hunting is nothing new. I used to do it 17 or so years ago, when I was looking for silvers myself. Too bad my house was broken into and many things where stolen from my bedroom which included all my collectible coins and collectible trading cards.

Funny thing is only stuff from my bedroom was stolen since it was the only room they could get into we guessed. I guess I should be fortunate because of the two padlocks on my bedroom door kept the thief(thieves) from getting into the rest of the house.

Happy Hunting.

One time i got 120.00 dollars worth of Half Dollars from the bank and not ONE OF THEM was 90 % Silver.
Only 3 of them were 40% Silver and all the rest were clad.

Yea damn i wasn't that lucky when I used to do it, that was about 10 years ago. I did come across a few nice pennies, and some worn down buffalo nickels. Granted I was only 15 so my paper route cash would only allow to look through pennies, nickels on a good day. Key is getting to know your local bank tellers, they can set aside rolls of coins that they get from customers. One time I asked what they did when they get coins like that in from a customer. She told me that they usually separate them and leave them in the bags of change and bills to go back to the mints and taken out of circulation

Ya! my wife works at the bank its unbelievable what people bring.......she askes them are you sure you want to turn this in especially the older folks.....they don't care I guess.......But if they are in rolls the bank doesn't check them.......I know I got some nice stuff that way.

all this talk of roll hunting made me want to go out and pick up some, out of 100 rolls of pennies only 7 wheats '36 being the oldest. talk about disappointment. the majority of the rolls looked promising, all tattered and def rolled up @ someones house. I could never work @ a bank for fear of being suspected of stealing. Id constantly be looking through the coins and bills setting em aside to buy at the end of the day

So, do the banks actually have these on hand sitting around in back for some reason or is just luck of the draw that someone turned in their coin collection to them?
Great find by the way!

How do you find those big 'ol silver dollars? I didn't know rolls for those things were still in use! That's a nice group of coins you have there.
