Default Not sure about one Item

Best day of the season today here in CT. I went out to hunt this old foundation in the woods today and found some cool stuff. There is one thingy I dug up that I'm not sure about. Matbe someone here will know. In the first picture you will see an Old Timer pocket knife, a belt buckle, Couple of nickles, a Token and a couple of Iron rings. One of the rings passes through a triangular piece of Iron. Both rings were found at separate spots, so I don't think they are related. The second and third pictures show a Dog whistle! Very cool!

The triangle looks like it was originally a staple used to hold the ring to a post.

Great whistle!

Looks like old horse tack to me.

The whistle, now that is one hell of a find. Congrats.

After hours of searching the internet. I've determined that it is, in fact a hitching post ring. I have to admit, though, that the whistle is probably my favorite relic so far this year!
