I can't believe you are not hunting those farm fields over there in the UK. Get moving and keep us informed. There is so much to be found.
Go here http://www.ehow.com/how_6782632_out-...t-land-uk.html That should get you started. Good luck. Mike __________________ |

If you need help with those fields Shadow, and the old airbases as well, let me know. I would love to hunt in the UK.

Quote:
Names, DOB, etc, of anyone else at the property is not retained by the tax assessor. The only name the tax assesor is concerned with is who the owner or his agent is, and then only so that taxes can be collected. Church property is non-taxable, under most conditions, but if the ownership is unknown to the county tax asssesor, there is ususally an investigation to determine who the owner is and if the property has been sold to a non-church entity, the property will lose its exempt status. Making church property not-taxable was based on two ideas of the USA. "No taxation without representation", and "Separation of church and state". If churches were taxed, they should also have an official influence, and that would give them a say in how the government does things, and that was feared as possibly leading to an official religion. By making them non-taxable, they have no right to try to influence the passage of laws, other than as individual voters. Here in the USA, the ownership of real property is generally public information. I worked in taxation for a while and we had contact info for every current owner of every parcel. For most parcels, if there is no tax paid, the county tax assesor begins to try to locate the parcels owner. In most jurisdictions, the county assesor will try to locate a missing owner by mail and then by newpaper notices. Eventually the parcel will be auctioned off for back taxes. Having said all that, there are times when it is difficult to track down a property owner, if the ownership has recently changed, or the owner is trying to set up some sort of tax shelter. In those cases, the tax assesor will send out a series of letters telling the last known owner that the taxes have increased due to exemptions running out, or something and the owner or his agent will generally contact the tax assessor. When in doubt, follow the money! HH, John Morton |
