Default Etrac problem

Heh All,

I need some help. I recently found a cashe of Morgans and 50 cent pieces (see my other posts), and had to switch to my Whites M6 because the etrac wasn't detecting them. The M 6 reads them just fine-I get a VDI 94 with the Morgans, and 87-88 with the M6 so I know it isn't the coins. I went in my backyard to do a field test with my etrac and it works just fine with all clad and silver coins except for the Morgan silver dollars and Kennedy silver halves I tested it on. I swing right over the morgan .....a sporadic/choppy 3-38 to 45range VDI reading one out of maybe 5 swipes was it. More often than not it wouldn't read it at all. I tried it on several different Morgans and nothing? Can someone tell me why this is happening, and how to fix it? Silver dimes and quarters ring up just fine on it as expected. Help.

Thanks

I'm not sure what nulling means? There is no signal, no VDI, nothing. It's like it is not there at all.

Is there an all metal mode? If so can you detect a morgan while in all metal?

What do the Morgans weigh? they should be at 26.7ish grams (not counting loss from wear). There were a lot of counterfeits in the 1920's. These Morgans weigh differently and may be made of all sorts of metal alloys. These can ring up differently according to the alloys used.

I say find one that has the correct weight, then use that to conduct your test and report back.

Even at a different wieght and made of different metals the E-Trac should still find them no problem. You stated that you found them and then had to switch to your M6 did you initially find them with the E-Trac and then it wouldn't find them anymore?

The default coin program for the Etrac blocks out silver dollars by default. If you're using the coin program here is a video explaining how to modify that...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dl6RUSyJtbU

That guys program is way way way overkill! I have my etrac opened up to about from 1-36 to 1-44ish and it hit silver Morgans just fine, I wouldn't suggest opening up the entire right hand corner like he does.

Go here and load this pattern and settings, it will make the ETrac a different machine and will more than likely solve your problem. You will love it!

Just open the top right corner or scan one form every angle and hit accept.

It's almost absolutely your pattern. I personally leave all of the E-Trac wide open except the really high ferrous at the VERY bottom. My ears tell me what to dig and what not to dig. It's much more productive to hunt this way.
