Default Question on Harbor Freight Pinpointer

After you replace the on/off switch, will the new switch need to be replaced after that or is it a lifetime garranty?

Ha I know right. Thats why I buy all my work stuff there. It's cheap and nobody will want to take it. May not last as long but it serves its purpose. I'd rather muck up lesser quality stuff than expensive brand things.

Plus I get boatloads of the 20% off coupons so every little bit helps in discount.

Same here. it's alright, as I said on another thread, it works but has some issues, but has really proven to me the value of a pinpointer.

Thumbs up

I like mine, have used it hard over the past couple of months. Only thing I did to it was put a piece of black electrical tape over the speaker hole...made it a bit quieter!

With something this cheap, I wont bother to replace switch....I saved the box and the receipt...when it poops I will just take it back and exchange it.

I'm with newbieshooter I paid $16 dollars for mine and when it dies I'll just grab another at HF. I do have to say though I really like mine After 20 years with out a pin pointer this things the bee's knee's for that price.

I am on my second HF pinpointer. Same power button problem. I salvage pieces off of old electronics before I toss them so I had one button replacement before but the sensitivity control started to go so I bought another.

Just replaced my switch on hf pointer of a coffee pot. Just got to switch it off and on but it wont break. Just saw that sensitivity going out on someones. Thinkin mine might be. I di the wire trick on mine and got alot more depth on it. I have to play with mine everytime i go out to use it . It will just ring solid till i adjust wire and turn sensitivity down then it will be fine the rest of the day.

Almost any switch will be better quality than the original one.
The soldering by a blind person would be better, also.

The warranty on the switch is all you got, once you dirty that up, forget that too.

No worries...the HF pinpointer with a new switch should last for awhile, just buy another when it dies.
A $4.00 switch from Radio-Shack should outlast the whole unit.

If you get to the point that you need a third one, or even before, that would be a good time to consider a Propointer.
