Which one is a better value? I need to upgrade from my Pioneer 303. The F4 and the X-Terra 303 are both the same price.

The XT-305 takes 4 AA batteries to (2) 9 volt batteries for the F-4. The XT-305 has an adjustable armrest and adjustable volume control, the F-4 doesn't. The F-4 has a better warranty, 5 yrs. to 3 for the XT-305. The F-4 also comes with a slightly better stock coil, has an adjustable threshold and has far more target I.D. segments. The F-4's 11" DD coil should give a little better depth than the stock coil of the XT-305.
