I hit a target at 6 inches the other day, cut a nice plug, checked the plug with my Garrett and no signal, stuck it in the hole and got a faint signal, dug 3-4 inches deeper and re checked the hole.. still deeper.. 3-4 more inches.. and my lesche wouldnt reach it, went to the truck got my little shovel and kept digging, at 14 inches I recover a nail.. ?? I'm thinking.. !!!?? these etracs really do like nails.. and it wasnt even square.. I fill the hole and re sweep it.. I get the same signal.. now Im scratching my head.. 2 nails?? I pull the plug and sweep it.. there it is.. a zinc penny at 2 inches...
![]() it was far enough from the bottom of the plug my pointer didnt find it, I never did find anything at the 6 inch depth..

It could be a coin at 4" or a hubcap at 15".

In situations like this, before I dig real deep, I will recycle the PP...just turn it off and on...this resets the unit and in your case might have then found that 2" zincoln. No major problems with my PP to speak of, and this is rare, but like I said...it could go temporarily bonkers from time to time so I always reset if I can't find the target right away. That has always worked in the few similar situations I have experienced. __________________ |

be careful not to turn your pin pointer on near the target because if it is in range when you activate it, it will effect your pinpointing.

Every so often that's happened to me. Usually it's a case of target just inside the edge of the hole rather than deeper.

First thing to remember is to scan the plug with your MD once after digging it (and before searching the hole). I do it every time now after I had the same thing happen to me. Another thing is to keep your Pro off until you put it in the hole, then turn it on. For some reason, it seems to fine tune and balance it out. HH
