I have the Fiscars digging tool and thought it was/is pretty good. The only thing I didn't like about it was it had the split tip and was always getting roots and stuff caught in it. I bought the Lesche a couple of years ago and have been very pleased with it!

I have a True Temper also and It is awesome with wet soil, but when its hard that weeder end seems to not want to get into the ground. I honestly use a cheapo trowel from Lowe's that fits me great. I need to grind down that tip like another poster here did.

I had a digging tool about 15 years ago I wish I could replace - lost it in the woods, I think. It was a big knife with a wooden handle - the blade was sharp on one side, serrated on the back. The blade was slightly curved or cupped, made cutting a round plug very easy. It was indestructible and I wish I could find another one! Has anyone seen anything like that for sale lately?

I have the fiskers tool too ...broke it the first day out ..the handle broke off but I have a tig welder so I welded it back on and did more welds to it (first time I used my welder in almost a year!) I also have a wilcox 101 that I just bought and I like it a lot I also have a Brass flat head screw driver that I use to pry coins out of the ground with!

The way I heard it, George Lesche had some sort of falling out with family business and started his own company. Since he is the one that actually came up with the Lesche digger, I figured I'd buy his Predator Tools digger for my first "good" one. But my dealer where I just ordered my new detector and accessories says Predator Tools has been a bit hard to get product from and all he can get is the Lesche one. Maybe they just prefer to sell direct for now(?).

I'll probably order a Predator shovel, soon, though. Their stuff looks great. Their Raptor digger looks very interesting, too. It's curved and digs more of a concave hole rather than a cylindrical plug.

If you aren't going to spring for a Lesche, you should take that one back ASAP and get this one:

You can thank me later....

I got one from Sears like that one, works well for the price. It cuts clean holes for me, that's the main thing

The Lesche is the least expensive digger out there as long as you buy it first. Trouble is most people(myself included)will try 5-10 lesser tools first. That greatly increases the cost of the Lesche that you will eventually purchase, trust me.
