The DetectorPro Pirate Metal Detector is a water pulse induction
metal detector. It is specialized. It is usually used in salt water.
It has no discrimination at all.

The Laser Hawkeye is an OK machine. I am not sure if it is worth
the extra money for the display though. It is a good jewelry finding
machine and a good relic machine. I like the Vaquero better. It has
no display, but it does have ground balance. I am wearing mine out.

The Tesoro Tejon is the only one you listed that has ground balance.
That may, or may not end up being very important. If you have any
issues with reactive ground conditions, it will be important. The Tejon
is a real good relic machine. It would even do pretty good looking for
gold nuggets. It's sensitive and deep. It may be a bit of a beast for
a newbee.

The Garrett Ace 350 Metal Detector is the coin hunter machine out
of those listed. It is like the 250, but it has a Double D coil and it has
some iron handleing settings that the 250 doesn't have. I would rather
have the 250 and two coils for about the same price, maybe. It is not
hard to tell iron with the 250 when you learn it.

I would like to buy a Tejon.

Happy Huntin,

Tesoro!

How did you come up with that list? Pretty wide range of machines. Did you find those local for sale? Might be able so find something more suitable if we had some more details...

Hi. I was just looking at machines around the 3lbs in weight area. They were the ones I found. I use an E-Trac and dad can only swing it for 20 mins before his arms hurt. Best Regards Mark

I got the DetectorPro Pirate Metal Detector confused
with another Detector Pro.

It is not a Pulse induction machine. It is a VLF metal
detector and is terrible in salt water.

It is nice in fresh water swimming holes from what I've
heard,

Sorry about the mistake,

Hay Towser,

I can't swing the heavy ones.

My Tesoro Vaquero and all Tesoro uMaxers are 2.2 pounds.

There are some others under 3 pounds that are better
balanced.

I just use Tesoro uMaxes, they are light,

I like the tesoro and ace, they are both very good detector, depends on what would you like to have as far as features.

Do you know which model? I use the Wader in salt water and it works just fine.

Default Ace 350

ACE 350 is easy to use and light weight. And can find deep coins.

The ACE 350 was the first metal detector I used. I quickly liked the hobby, thus I upgraded to an ETRAC.
