Spent 3 1/2 hours just tooling around in Elysian Park in Los Angeles. No silver, but did find my first Wheatie ever! A 1944 S. Got my first quarter as well. It definately hit much harder than the dimes and I am getting a feel for my detector and its ins and outs. When I pulled the key out, I thought to myself, "That looks like a key from mom's Falcon key back in the day." After I got it home and cleaned it up, sure enough it was a Ford key. The big iron thing made my detector go CRAZY. I thought it was just acting up and my pointer hit it and I swept it and it stayed in contact with it and didn't make an aluminum sound. I got pretty excited. The 9mm round was kind of creepy being in a park area where lots of family picnic. It was about 6 inches down. Thats it for today, but I had alot of fun.
