Other than the basic solvents that can damage coins, what is a good thing to use to clean up the really crudy/salty clads that one finds?
Thanks, Greg |

Buy a Lortone rock tumbler. (the hf one is a cheap and junk)
Fill the barrel half way full of pea gravel. Add as many coins until there is about an inch or 2 left. Fill it with enough water to cover the coins. Add about 2 teaspoons of lemon juice and a squirt of dish soap. Tumble for about 4-6 hours, enjoy. |

I bought a cheapie rock tumbler at Hobby Lobby for $19.95. I put the clad coins (pennies too) with water and a little soap and tumble for 2 hours. No grit or gravel, I just let the coins clean themselves. They aren't as shiny as the day they were minted but they are clean enough to put back into circulation.
