Default My new Compadre and first quick hunt

This week I acquire a real nice Compadre and today I had the chance to tested in the field for the first time, I didn't use the headphones this time, I wanted to know the behaviour of the machine this way. My first impression was: how great this little fellow can detect small pieces of lead! even without headphones!!! clear and strong signal.

this is my first tesoro and I think I'm in love with this one, that weight, compactness and simplicity are really hard to beat.

I hear ya!!! I bought mine expecting something like a "toy". I was very wrong!! This little puppy does better than machines costing a $100 more. Best value out there!!!

I know what you mean, it really looks like a toy,

I've got a nice impression about this machine, very sensitive and a nice discriminator, I think I will start using this one a lot

For tot lots, just knock out the small nail or paper clip. For coin hunting- just put it where the foil breaks up. Your life has just changed. It's simply, to me, an unbelievable detector for the money. Already paid for mine a couple of times over. Only had since a little before Christmas.

one of the things that I liked the most was the sound, high and short like a dog's bark, why would I need a pinpointing option with this sound? the compadre makes it easier.

next time I'll try the headphones, I may be wrong but it seems I was getting different sound variations with different sizes and kind of metals, I'm curious

I love my Compadre too. Already, first gold and even found a .557 Enfield minie bullet this past week! Headphones are a definite plus to the Compadre as the speaker is loud (attracts kids for blocks around).

The unit is definitely NOT a toy.

those minnie bullets are annoying when we don't have the pinpointer probe, I'll bring it with me next time too

and... shhhh... don't say it aloud, let them make fun about our innocent toy

They're great little machines and IMHO the best buy out there for what you get versus the price. I had one of the earlier ones with the 7" coil, sold it, wish I had it back even though I have several capable detectors.

Heh, I hear you. I still get a chuckle when I remember the older woman who told me she thought I had a "weed whacker" at the park!

I have used alot of Tesoro's and they are said to be a single tone detector (besides the Golden uMax which is multi-tone) but as you are finding out the single tone Tesoro's speak their own language which is one of the things that make them so good & so fun to use.

if I'm not wrong the older compadre had detachable coils, is that true?

it's nice to do undercover detecting once in a while

100% agree, after using the headphone I see how those small variations in tone are very useful and amusing at the same time, I believe it's possible to identify targets with this after learning it well.
by the way... what are you doing with a Minelab???
