Default Made a new digger/shovel works awesome

I made this shovel/digger out of a thick pvc pipe cut in half with 1/2 inch threaded pipe, 1/2 t pipe for the handle. 2 bolts with washers, and 2 tubes of jb weld over the bolts, also gorilla tape super sticky wrapped around the handle, I tired it out today after i made some serraded like cuts on it it works great in mud, rocks doesnt flex too much, and doesnt feel like it will break only time will tell....

Default Wow!

That is awesome!!! Necessity is the mother of invention. That looks like a zombie slayer from the mad max movie series. Good job and I applaud your ingenuity and let us know how it holds up. I admit I walk around lowes wondering what i could make out of all the stuff I see.

What a beast of a digger! I've do wonder though about the pvc pipe for the handle based on how serious that cutting end looks. Seems like you are gonna tear through roots and might break the handle first....

no the pipe is 1/2 steel and 1/2 steel T the shovel part is only plastic, I used lock tight on the threads of the steel pipes to make sure they wont come apart, and the bolts are locked in with lock tight and then coated with jb weld... so it is steel,it was easy to make and feels strong but not tooooo heavy, i plan on going to meet up with dirtlizard on monday.
we will try it out in the real world.

Cool digging shovel

hey CT chef, you can purchase a small mini combo shovel with pick on one end and a foot handle for $5.50 at harbor freight, and is all metal, not pvc stuff. it comes with canvass bag goes on your belt. will last a long long time. just want to share with new comer.

Thumbs up

If you take out the two metal bolts and replace them by non-metallic
ones ,it would do great scanning the dirt in front of the MD's coil

You may be talking about the same one that I found at my local Harbor Freight. They were closing them out. I bought the last one they had for $3.00.
