Default coinmaster pro needing info

i just recently got a coinmaster pro i have only got to use it 2 times because of the weather here in ky its been to wet but when i have used it i have it set on full discrimination and 3 or 4 times i have hit on what i thought would be a 50 cent or dollar in he ground but it hasnt been none of the times once was a padlock around 8 inches another time was some type of a handle looked to be aluminum another time was an aerosol can can anyone give me a few tips on what i might be doing wrong here i understand that there is alot of trash in the ground as well as coins but i thought that the discrimination would filter that out the detector does seem to work very well at finding deep targets but im thinking there is something i am doing wrong

You're not doing anything wrong, 50 cent or dollar id readings can be about anything as you found out, large iron can also show up in the upper scale range. Not sure what you are using for a detector but any detector with a readout display can be fooled. Some detectors have better discrimination than others also. Steve.

Most likely. Damp ground is normally more "friendly" to metal detectors so you pick up stronger signals......

Any detector will read a large object at greater depth the same as a coin at shallow depth. That's because the signal of the deep large object looks the same as a shallow coin-sized object to a detector.

As mentioned, a number of targets can ID as 50 cents or a dollar. Smashed aluminum cans do this a lot. One thing to learn and remember is that the TID on any detector is only a machine's best guess and guess is the right word although it's programmed to compare the characteristic responses and sizes of metal targets. Unfortunately, many trash items respond very similarly to coins. That said, of several TID detectors I have used, I've pretty much never had a coin ID as junk. Junk that ID's as a coin, happens all the time. The only certain ID is your eyes.
