I dug this flat button from a local park that used to be an old farm with a house and barns on it. I have no idea how old the site dates to but I suspect is was the mid 1800's. On the back of the button I can make out what appears to be a wreath and some letters around the edge but not enough to put together a name or words. The button is about the size of a nickel and very thin. It is smooth on the front side. If anyone can help ID or date this I would really appreciate it.

It occurred to me that this could be the bottom half of a button with the top having been seperated from it. Maybe not but most of the flat buttons that I have seen are thicker than this one. It is thinner than a dime, closer to a 3 cent piece.

It's a button back with the shank missing. I can't tell if that's letters at the top or it's just corrosion playing tricks on my eyes. Anyway, it's "wreath" is somewhat similar to this one, made by an unknown company.
