Hola everyone would like as much info on equipment, I have a unique opportunity to try a intresting hobby yet possibly meet some really cool people. Some of my family live in Tulum Mexico- wow what a beautifull place and I will be making several trips to the area each year I guide people and take them on adventures as a guide from fishing and hunting to exploring the cenotes all around the area for the past 8 years. I would like to purchase my first piece of equipment with some knowledge and comfort of hearing from the pros as yourselves I have read a few blogs that have made me realize I am going to need three kinds of equipment shallow, under wateraprox 20' and of course beech combing equipment perhaps some of you can kick down some info. I dont really know what to expect perhaps renting first would be the correct way to go open for ideas and questions. Oh I live in the Corona Ca. area do people actually get together ? like a club or is this your format for learning any info would be cool. Thanks

Welcome aboard mayandigger.... it seems you are looking at high end machines, not beginners equipment. Well, there are several. Be prepared for a learning curve, but well worth the effort. I recommend you read as much as you can here on the sub-forum about selecting an MD and also review the suppliers sites. Being a White's fan, I also recommend you call their customer service and get to talk to some of their engineers... they will help you in your choices. Their customer service is without equal and the equipment is leading edge. Good luck, RickO

Hola,
I have been to Tulum & that area many times. Love it, too. It is not going to be cheap for your first detector , but if you treally want to get one, , a Fisher CZ-21 will be a great choice for that type land , beach, && underwater detecting in Mexico. This detector is great for all your hunting.

Welcome from Merida Yucatan! Tulum is a nice spot for sure, i get over that way a few times a year....I've been considering hunting cenotes, there are a TON around me too, and with cold water there should be some rings to be found...
Maybe a minelab excalibur would fit the bill for you, can hunt from the dry to the deep.
