Default Attack of the girls

So I was in this park that I am working hard these last couple weeks now that the weather is cooperating. No one has even come and talk to me, which is fine. This last day however, 5 girls on their little pink bikes all ride into the park like some gang. They proceed to the playground but one. She's the tomboy rebel that does not want to play whatever imaginary game the others were howling about 'I did catch the phrase "Werewolf"' in the distance. So it's me, and this little girl asking me all these questions. I explain what I am doing, and she's waiting to see what I find.

The first target is bust, and all her friends are calling her, one comes over and is PLEADING for her to come play and 'your ignoring us, it's not fair'. The other girl leaves, and I get a better signal. I dig it up, and before I can say 'there it is' her darts into the hole like a viper and pulls out red tarnished nickle. She rubs it on her sleeve and then reads 1961 and then utters the phrase 'That's not really that long ago'. I thought it my mind "Bless you child, cuz it's probably older than your mother'. She gave it back to me and I put it in my pouch and feigned I had to go get dinner ready and left the park. About that time the others came and began pleading for her to come play.

I would have stayed another hour, but not with an audience.

I probably would have acted happy about getting another nickel (not much acting needed, actually, lol) and told her it'd be one of my best finds for the day. In my experience, when the kiddos don't think you're gonna find anything good, they lose interest quickly.

Always good to have someone to talk to. In this case you could have had all of them with you..You handled it well...1961 was a good year if I remember right...Buster....

Kids can be very curious... I would tolerate them (in my park hunting days), but they sure do break your concentration. RickO

One time 2 little girls had been watching me , went home, came back and handed me a couple dimes. They were so sincere that I took them and thanked them. They probably thought the old goat was living on his finds. steve in so az

Yeah, 1961 was a pretty good year. I was in the 4th grade. Got spanked with a paddle by my teacher once for not doing my homework........
