There is a reason everyone says the Compadre.
Laser-like pinpointing just by xing is just one of them.
Lifetime warranty, high quality so you rarely need service, and legendary service in case you ever do.
The ability to find fine gold better than most other detectors
Listen to the masses who have years of experience, or go with your own opinion.
It's your money, spend it the way you see fit.

You have the 250 so you know what that is like... take away the ability to pinpoint and a few segment choices and you have the 150.

Even though I HATE the name scheme of tesoro and the company name itself I've heard good things about the compadre or companion or whatever it's called. I'd get that one. I had an ace 250 and didn't like it at all. ANNOYING and heavy would sum that detector up.

How is the Compadre's Discrimination? Will I be bringing home 20 lbs of junk like I do with my Bounty Hunter? LOL?

If you really want the Ace, why are you asking?
But since you asked for our "opinion", here's mine.
Compadre. My first machine was a borrowed one, and it found everything from coins, to relics, to clad, to gold and silver. If you want something "better" down the road, it makes a fine, simple, backup or "leave it in the car/truck for impulse detecting spot sightings."

[/I]."

This is the second thread he started with the same question.
Everyone said get a Compadre on the other one, too.
Still, he started this second thread.

I believe he is looking for someone to tell him the 150 is better because he does not know anything about the Tesoro line and he has a 250 so he is more familiar with that one and he probably thinks the 150 would be similar.
I bet he uses that pinpoint button on his 250, though.
I hear without it the 150 can be very frustrating.

Get the Ace. It's your kind of detector..Buy it, you will be pig happy not knowing what you are missing...I've got a Compadre and a Vaquero, and the Compadre can outshoot it on coins all day long.

Good move, Now, if you can find a used one, go for the older 7 inch coil.. The five inch coil,to me, is just too slow when you are trying to cover ground. The seven inch coil is faster, and the ability to unmask coins is on a par with the 5.75 coil...If you are not in a hurry, wait it out and do go for the larger coil.. I think the older model will start climbing in price. So then, since I suggested something specific, if you don't like it,I'll consider buying it off you. Fair enough..???

I have read the average is about 6 inches with the smaller coil.

My BH with an 8" coil won't go that deep, either.
