Hey any you guys up for the 2nd annual Northern Illinois group hunt meeting?

I can't remember if there actually ended up being one or not last year. I guess I have to go back and re-read this thread some. Anyway, idea popped in my head that maybe we could make it an annual thing. Of course anyone is welcome to come even folks residing outside of Illini Nation, So that means any of you Badgers, Hoosiers, Boilamakers, Hawkeyes, heck even Wolverines or Spartans...etc. I'm not Big-10 myself, but you get the picture.

We'll have to throw around some ideas for a weekend hunt and of course a location. I'm willing to hunt anywhere, could go up by Rockford, down by Dekalb, or even stick around closer to Chicago suburbs. I guess now is the time to do research anyway with the Winter upon us.

So please chime in if you are interested.

Yes, we did have a hunt, in fact two of them. It was fun and Gemmy and I want to do another this summer. We are looking at some other areas to hunt and have some leads on new spots.

I'm all for having an annual Illini hunt.

I'm in. Not sure what's available in Rockford since I'm in the middle of permit-land. City, county...they all want a piece. Even placing a geocache on county property comes at a price.

What exactly would be a good group location anyway? Way old private property? Semi-old public property? Any idea on acerage?

We have some public land here in Dixon that we used last year and could use again. Silver was found, Merc's, Washington's, War Nickel, V Nickel's but I'd like to find a spot that is more productive. Got some ideas.

quite a few old homesteads here that I've just begun to notice...don't know who owns them, etc...but it might be an idea...

Haven't heard of Lee County...what towns are in it? I'm familiar with Cook, Kane, Lake, and DuPage

Ok, you need to head southwest from McHenry County. Dixon is the largest town in the county, about 43 miles southwest of Rockford.

I have a REAL good spot for a group hunt. I'm just starting to see who I could ask for permission. Normally I would keep this one all to myself, but it would take me years to search it all (100+ acres). My God, I'm all excited at even the thought of searching this place.

Absolutely anyone who would like to come is welcome. Fred, I think that park would be good, 200 acres, there is a lot left to hunt.
