Default More rainy day fun

Thanks be to good rain gear and Xtra tuf boots.

We're in the throes of a great deluge here in So Cal. It's a good 'un.

Driving back from checking the IB and Coronado beaches a blue station wagon almost crashed in to me. Traffic was moving at 40-45 mph in heavy rain and this car started to get over from the #1 to the #4 lane (not hydroplaning) forcing me out of my lane (#3) almost to the shoulder as I laid on my horn (thank god there was nobody to directly to my right and sorry to the driver I cut off). The driver finally realized and started back over to the left, all the way back to the #1 lane almost hitting several more vehicles. Traffic was really slowing down as the driver started a slow speed round robin almost taking out numerous vehicles in the process. One of the most bizarre things I've ever seen.

The driver was:
a) hammered out of his/her gourd
b) very old suffering from severe dementia
c) having a stroke or some other medical emergency
d) texting while putting on mascara drinking Starbucks and eating a bagel <-- I've seen that

Home I drove high on adrenalin.

Deciding against driving back to the beach for low tide I hit a couple of parks. Attn So Cal beach hunters, prime conditions right now!

It was rough as the ground is pretty well saturated and my holes would rapidly fill with water.

The loot

Red pennies

I thought this rounded edge was a coin. When I tried to pull it out it wouldn't budge.

A little more excavating...

3 cent piece?

One lonely wheat - my 2nd from the ground

32oz Ice water for scale

Mostly good times!

I would say not a bad day considering what you had to go through...good to hear that car didn't connect...

Nice hunt glad you made it home safely! I liked your story of the bad driver, I saw someone once going through the intersection as I waited at the stoplight. They were making a left turn without signaling with a cigarette in one hand talking on the cell phone with the other hand. Now that is not so uncommon but the fact that it was a highway patrol officer was interesting but not as much as the fact that it was a female patrol officer driving the squad car!

Glad that you are all right. I am also glad that you made it out.

The two craziest drivers that I have seen like that were:
1. The guy who was driving and had the newspaper open and reading at the same time.

2. The little old lady with a German Shepherd on her lap that crossed five lanes of 65mph traffic to get into a driveway that she missed. I almost T-boned her.
