My thanks to a UK forum member for the ID on the artefact.
Dagger or sword point in leather scabbards is usually protected by a metal tip, or chape. Doug __________________ |

Found somthing very similar this summer, not sure if its the same thing or how it would have looked when fitted to a scabbard.

Clive "Found somthing very similar this summer, not sure if its the same thing or how it would have looked when fitted to a scabbard."
Educated guess and say it was one half of a slightly different type “moustache type?” type?” (Below) The chape would I assume be fitted into the bottom of the leather/hide scabbard with the point of the knife/dagger in the hole you can see on my find? Mine different view. __________________ |
