Default Getting a new camera..

I have been needing a new point and shoot camera for awhile, but I obsess over every little purchase till it drives me crazy.

Need a good close-up mode, good outdoor shooter to show you guys some of the places I hunt, ( some are very nice locations!), and movies in HD is a plus in case I want to do the Youtube posting stuff.
I realize I will get only about 2GB of movie time with this camera's system, (about 8 minutes), but that should be enough.

Looking at some Cannons, but my last one screwed up pretty quickly, so this time I think the Panasonic ZS6 is gonna be my early Christmas present to me.
Don't think I need the GPS on the ZS7, or the few extra features, so that's out.

Costco has the ZS6 on sale starting Thursday at an extra $50 off.
2GB card and case is included.
I believe they give you an extra year on the warranty too, especially if I use my Costco American Express to purchase it.

Stay tuned for some nice photos with my future postings.

HH

I have the Canon 40D for my still pics. It's a high end camera though. I use it for weddings and Senior pics as well. For HD Vids I have the Kodak Zi8.

I've always liked the Kodak Easy Share cameras but I think my cellphone (iphone 4) takes better close-ups.

Default looking for camera too

I have several $500+ cameras that I REALLY don't feel like using while I MD. I have been checking the tough built point & shoots, but they are more than I want to spend and so I am thinking $100 ball park so if it doesn't last it won't be so painful. I bought a cheap Kodak and it would not do macro close ups at all. I gave it to the grandson for his birthday. In that price range, what takes good to great coin photos and maybe a video for uTube or whatever?

Anyone have something they are happy with?

I have had several, but I am kind of hard on cameras sometimes so I have to buy a new one from time to time.

I also have a Nikon D70...THAT one I take care of...my pocket cameras sometimes not so much.

Jumped off a boat into what I thought was shallow but was really waist deep water once, forgot I had a camera in my pocket.

RIP.

My current one, a Cannon power shot A480, somehow, it turned on while in my pocket and the lens came out and the whole mechanism got bent.

All the pictures of my finds I have posted since joining were taken with this one, but it hardly works, I can only take close ups, barely, and I am tired of missing those spur-of-the-moment everyday shots I used to take...sunsets, rainbows, landscapes, flowers, whatever.
Plus, the members here and other youtube guys have inspired me so 8 minutes of quality movie time is adequate if I want to head in that direction.
If anyone is looking for longer movie time in a camera, check out the ZS7.

My first digital SLR from years ago was a Panasonic, and I loved it.
I did a little research and this Panasonic seems to have good reviews from amateurs and pros alike, so I am going with this one.
Like detectors, everybody has an opinion.
Some people love this, some don't, but for my needs I think this will fit me very nicely.
Not so great on indoor shots due to the low level flash, but I am not looking for that anyway, and this one seems to take very, very nice outdoor shots.

I am gonna try to take care of it, this time.
