Default Hmm interesting very interesting

I noticed that there are some Garrett AT PRO's on the forums for sale already, I guess they aren't better than sliced bread after all, what a big surprise . Could there been some hype to this machine after all .

I saw a guy that test one, and said he found a lot of stuff that other good detectors had left behind, but could not get use to the tones and sounds of the machine.. LOL

I have to come clean to all you folks that are fairly new to this forum. I don't know how it started (so long ago) but I tease about the Garrett 250 almost like a "fun" war between me using a Tesoro and someone else with a 250, its all in fun. I have a number of good honest dealers I do business with and about all of them that have tested the AT told me they liked them. I have an image to live up to on here so I don't have time to brag up the AT, so I will end in saying that the only thing the AT has over the 250 is that it would survive me using it - I mean after 10 minutes using it I would toss it in the river, only problem is that you could fish the AT out and it would still honk and snort .

P.S. Don't tell any of the Garrett swingers I mentioned this

I was really hoping that Garrett would have made this unit in Yellow....."Rubber-Ducky" would have fit well!...... But, I guess you need the black color under-water to not bring any attention to the sharks.........

I hope the AT is everything it's been hyped up to be, especially for all you folks that pre ordered it.

Can't wait to see some reviews on here.

l resemble that remark! I have to also come clean and say that if it wasn't for the sniper coil, I woulda sold mine. Monte suggested that the sniper coil kinda made the machine profitable and I tried it as a last ditch and was pleasantly surprised-especially around fences, poles, etc. The Tesoroes, even with the 4" coils were just too sensitivie to really get up close. For what it's worth, I'm thinking the Compadre will do most of what the AT Pro will, except for the tones and id-oops-didn't mean to say that.

One thing about all the hype over the AT Pro, is that it will be hard to live up to the expectations. I am sure they will sell like hot cakes. Time will tell how well they are liked by the metal detecting community. Like with all good detectors, it is a matter of what "fits" the user. Can't wait till the evaluations start rolling in. I am sure the people at Garrett are watching closely. They have a lot of money riding on it's success.

P.S.

I am sure they won't be hiring SkiWhiz as their spokesman!!

I'm sure they're gonna be great. Wish I had the $600+ for one. There's just something about beep-dig that keeps me satiisfied with what I have. When I win the lottery or the boat's around here send me that $1000 in cash instead of the $25 it always turns out to be, I will probably get one for just the underwater capability alone. It would really be interesting to listen to the tone roll features, etc.

I thought that I would pre order one. The hype got to me..Too much of it.. Will keep the Vaquero, put the compadre in a water proof box. and dump the loose $600 into silver Eagles...See what it grows into and do one last Way out West hunt..

There's no logical reason to think it would be any better from a tech. standpoint. If it is suppose to be where does that put the GTI 2500? (which costs more)

I've used an Explorer for 10 years and have listened to the hype for the Explorer II, and SE, and nothing has changed except for a few problems they fixed which was just common sense, but I guess an opportunity to come out with a "new" detector. The truth of the matter is I think Minelab made it worse because the slimline coil sucked, and I don't like the pro one either. (but like everything else they were the latest and greatest)

People who fall for the hype tend to be new and hungry to find. What you have to do is get the detector thing out of your system and concentrate on sites, because that's how you have success, not changing detectors every year. All that being said you do have to try them to see what you like, and I have had tried many over the years, but always stayed with Minelab. Buying used allows you to try em and get your money back if it doesn't work out, and that's what I've always done. In some cases I actually made money.

The only detector that I ever bought when it was first released that I liked was a Whites 6000Di. It was a great detector. I bought a new Compass X-80. It was a good detector for about fifteen minutes, and then it would act up. Now I don't buy anything unless it has been out for a while to get all of the bugs out of it.
