I was out at a park this past weekend for a short hunt. The park used to be a farm pre-1960's going way back. Most of the ground has been heavily graded and moved so I have never really found too many old targets other than this (I think) and an old shotgun shell last month. This is definitely lead.

Looks like a 12 gauge slug. It had a sabot (Sleeve) around it when fired.

Looks like a Thompson Center Maxi Ball to me (without the grease).

It is ammo for modern muzzleloaders. That bullet is what my father-in-law used to use before switching to sabots.

Its a Maxi Ball.the older bullets are called mini balls,the base is concave and would flare out causing unstable flight.when the maxi ball came out,it was top of the line.A solid base to make it fly straighter.Thompson center still makes it.
