Default Odd Finds

Anyone ever find like a bronze age sword here in the States? Seems like folks in UK always find crazy old things. I haven't really got into the hobby yet so I have nothing to post .

Finding something like that in the US would be highly unlikely. The natives did not work bronze and the spaniards and follow on colonists were past the bronze age.

But, it would be interesting to find! Think of what we know of the early Viking journeys. Somewhere there is a couple of Viking short swords.....

There have been some odd finds here in Nebraska in the past, not by me, they were spanish armor helmets swords etc. , highly suspected of being left when Coronado made his journey in the states on his quest for gold, as he thought there were vast quantities of gold laying around for the taking. Also had a couple of other old swords from long long ago that historians said were not supposed to be anywhere near here. folks were in the US long before others claimed to "find" it. but they were here looking for wealth not to stay.

I have found a coin dated between 1250 and 1258 A.D. here in the states.
It most likely made its' trip to America in the Pocket of a W.W.2 G.I. I think that is how most really ancient relics are going to be brought to America.

Thumbs up No swords, but....

There's a White's Metal Detecting Dealer here in Salt Lake City, UT that has a beautiful rifle in his showcase with other finds. The only time I was in the store, I asked him if he found it with a metal detector and he replied, "No, a friend of mine did."

As the story goes, him (George) and a friend were in a mine shaft hunting. His friend was sweeping over the floor that consisted of wood slats and dirt. Well, wouldn't you know it, he got a signal and started removing boards, where he found the previously mentioned rifle wrapped in cloth. George said his buddy spent some serious time in restoring the rifle and I have to say, he did a great job.

Just a matter of time. With enough ground covered eventually that bronze age sword will surface and everyone will rewrite history.
