Default Harbor Freight Tumbler

I was thinking about picking up one of the HF tumblers today, but was reading the comments online in regards to the belts only lasting about 2 weeks. Do any of you have this tumbler with this problem?? How much are the belts?? Anyone doing anything to make the belts last longer??

Thanks

After I wore my toy tumbler out I got a HF dual tumbler. It came with an extra belt. I guess I have let it run for 24 hours about 10 times. No problems with belt so far. Don't overload. Keep level. Keep oiled.

I have the 3lb Harbor Freight tumbler, I have had it for over 6 months now and I am STILL on the same belt! I haven't had to use my spare belt yet.

I had trouble with it at first because I overloaded it. If it has trouble making the tumbler turn, even if it starts out just fine but has problems 5 minutes later, then it is overloaded. Once I figured out the right balance everything was fine.

Default Traditional Tumbler or Vibrating Tumbler?

Which one is better?

I noticed in the box it has 5 extra belts. Don't know if that is a good sign or bad sign.

I see the vibrating, 99 buck one is on sale every now and then, and on line, for 49 bucks.... or maybe it was 59. Anyway, it's got it's issues but it's not going to break a belt. I'm almost ready to pull the trigger on that one.

Coins cleaned up great in just a few hours. Now I need to get back out there and find more so I can tumble again.

I've run about $230.00 worth of clad and pennies through mine and I'm still on the first belt. Just don't fill it more than 3/4 full.

Will the tumbler clean the clad up? Or will that stuff still come out looking like junk?

The clad comes out clean. If the coins have been in the ground A long time they will be stained or have patina, but all the details of the coin are visible.

I usually only run the pennies 4-6 hours, but the clad about 2-3x as long.

Exactly what I found. I ran the Pennies seperate from the rest about 4 hours each. I was very surprised the difference after tumbling.

Every single time I go to harbor freight, they never have what I'm after. Took me two trips to grab a pinpointer for backup, have yet to find one that had a digital scale in stock, and I dunno about the tumbler. Were the tumblers $29 in the store too? online shows them on sale for $29..

Yes $29.99 in the store. Don't forget the 20% off coupon. I never have that problem at the Indy store, they seemed to always have what I am going there for.
