Default Metal Detector Article Writer Job Opportunity!

Hello all. My name is Jay and I just joined the forum. I am an avid metal detector hobbyist and have recently decided to become a metal detector dealer (part time). I have started a website and I am trying to start to write reviews/articles/tips in the area of metal detecting. I am starting to get really busy with my full time job and still want to keep my site up to date and going. Basically I am trying to tap all the great knowledge on this forum and instead of you writing your great posts on the forum for free, I am willing to compensate you in some way (money, metal detector discounts, etc).

I was wondering if anyone would be interested in writing short reviews, articles, or tips regarding metal detecting. The articles can be short: 500 to 750 words (roughly four to five paragraphs). I am willing to pay $2 to $3 an article depending on the topic/length. I know this doesn't sound like a lot but if you write me 20 articles you will be looking at $40-$60.

Please contact me via email: admin@metaldetectors-for-sale.com or reply to this thread. Also, I know some of you might say go out and copy and paste some articles from the internet, however that is plagiarism and I am trying to maintain my site with unique content, therefore all submitted articles will be checked for uniqueness before payment is made. If you are worried about how you will be paid we can use paypal or I have accounts at www.odesk.com and www.elance.com. These last two sites protect both the employer and employee and is free to use for the employee (that would be you). Any other questions please feel free to email me.

Welcome from Kansas. Midway U.S.A.
I'll have to see if I can come up with something. I've been detecting for over thirty years. What is your web site?

Sooo you plan on selling machines through your site... yet openly advertise for other sellers and retail options? I mean, the last think I'd do if I was trying to sell MD's would be to have ads for Amazon and Kellyco sellings machines...? Or maybe I'm missing something?

Best of luck though, and maybe you'll get some takers.

Using the ads he would make money via a referral system

or via google adsense.

Exactly my point... is he trying to make money hoping to get click throughs, or by selling machines?

I work in E-Commerce and Merchant Services. I manage and establish VISA/MC Processing for a growing group of online merchants. In addition I operated a high volume off-lease laptop sales site for several years.

Been in eCommerce since 1993 and can tell you that all the Google adsense ads or Affiliate Links in the world without thousands of visitors a day will make you pennies and only take up valuable real estate.

WHY give your visitor the easy out to go elsewhere? Once they are gone, that $50 you could have made on a sale just earned you 5 cents and you won't see that check until you hit $100 in PPC revenue.

Look at any SERIOUS ecommerce site and you won't find them. Only the small operators that will stay small continue to saturate their sites with easy outs to lose potential buyers.

Not ragging on you. It's my job to help my merchant's sell more and what you are doing could be the kiss of death to a potentially lucrative site.

Nothing I hate worse than a site that make it tough to leave. When I find a site that is so arrogant as to redirect me back to their site when I try to leave I'll make sure the site is known as a scam.

Yep ... did not notice that. BAD idea. VERY bad idea to have that kind of loop on your page and any malware that kills the last site visited, etc.

Google frowns on that big time, and FYI... you are using your main keyword to the point of it being considered keyword spamming.

Google rewards sites for quality, relevant content these days. Black Hat SEO tricks will get your site sandboxed as well as individual key word repetition without EXTREMELY relevant content to go with it.

Reconsider what you want from your web presence and approach your site from a visitors format and ask if you would buy from your site.

EDIT - Looks like JROCK is history.....

I can take constructive criticism, to be honest I just started the site in July and I am just trying to get up in the search engine rankings. I also actually had forgotten about the two ads on the left banner. I have taken them down.

I am trying different techniques to increase my search engine rankings, my front page has 616 words and of those 616 words my keyword appears 7 times for a repetition rate of 1.136%. I don't find that to be Black hat SEO as you say. Also, I don't know what you mean by I am history...I am sorry if I can't reply to all the comments instantly.

Good luck with your new website and getting it squared away and user friendly. Getting a good reputation in the forums is the best way to get traffic to your website. Most new buyers that make a quick Google end up at the MD superstore with whom you can't compete... But most repeat buyers and long term users buy locally or from sellers known to be honest and fair. I know you want to get things up and running as soon as possible. Just hang out and join in the forums. If you are passionate and enjoy the hobby it should work out for you. See ya around!

Sorry I was not insinuating that your site was a scam. I was referring to those sites that redirect you back to their site when you try and leave. Nothing makes me madder than having my PC hijacked by some site looking to make a few pennies by forcing me to stay at their site.

I was not trying to say your site was one of those sites.

Ok, I and others then obviously took your first response the wrong way. Thanks for clearing all that up!
