Default First Coinstar Find

Today the wife and I took a Labor Day visit to Wal-Mart. As expected, the store was PACKED. When we were leaving, I walked past the Coinstar and noticed a quarter in the reject tray.

Chances are I probably looked like a crazy person darting up to the Coinstar and reaching into the reject tray, but I found a 1964-D quarter. Not bad for my first Coinstar find.

Thanks and Happy Hunting!

on our way out.

Well found

Nice find. Coinstars kick out most if not all silver coins for some reason. I have found 3 coins so far, 2 canadian pennies and a 5 pence.

Coinstars reject all silver I'm told. I've got my share of silver roosies from one at the supermarket. Will spit out most foreign coins too. The other day got 4 canadian dimes. All clad though. I think I'm up to 7 countries now from coins in the reject tray. Doesn't hurt to look.

My 8 year old daughter checks every coinstar she sees, just today in Wal-Mart she pulled 2 wheats, not sure why they reject wheats but we have pulled a good number of them as well as silver dimes and quarters. Another good find this weekend for me were 2 silver halves a 62 Kennedy and a 53 Franklin both from a register till at gas station on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, saw them and ask the lady if I could buy them from her and she was glad to.

Great Coinstar find!

I think the silver gets kicked back because the weight is different than clad.

I probably only find something in a Coinstar 1 in 20 tries, but my last look got me two Canadian "tunies"!
