Default First Silver Rosie

I went out on my hour lunchbreak today to search along the railroad tracks behind the building I work in. I've been searching this area since I found the Barber quarter last Thursday. I didn't find anything but trash on Friday and Monday. Today I dug a key, two old can lids, two pieces of canslaw and my first silver Rosie (1947). There were a few boxcars on the track so I took a picture of one. We've never had a railcar come in that didn't have spray paint on it. Thanks for looking and happy hunting!

Thanks! There really is alot of trash. I went into the treeline that is on the other side of the tracks on Friday and I couldn't even set my coil near the ground and it would go nuts. So much iron everywhere. I wonder if there is a market for rusty old railroad spikes? lol

Nice one man That silver coming out of the ground gets addicting, doesn't it?

Do you have the smaller coil? Might want to give that a try near the trash.

Nice silver dime. Yep, get a small coil - 4x6 is good for trashy areas. Check those spikes, if they have a year number stamped on the head, they are highly collectible. HH RickO

Nice rosie! If you can, get the sniper coil for your 250. I did, and you can get right between the junk with it.

Thanks for the nice replies everyone! I'll give the sniper coil a shot. A coil that small should be easier to swing in the underbrush as well. Thanks for the suggestion. This is a new experience for me. I'm use to searching parks and schools with the nicely manicured lawns. This is my first time searching an area with dense woods, thick underbrush, slopes and not so manicured grassy areas. No tot lot out here....lol. I am enjoying this new challenge. The good finds are few compared to the amount of "trash" I dig but they certainly have been good ones. Makes me appreciate them even more.

Yeah, what they all said. Get the sniper coil. There are obviously more targets there. Go get them and congrats!
