Default Two Days, Two parks, And A First For Me.

I had to go and pay a bill, so I took off early from work yesterday. on the way back, I decided to hunt a small Memorial type park that I have seen from the road. I found out that it was started in 1997. Before that, judging from my finds, I think the neighbors used it for their trash. I did make a couple of interesting finds, along with about a dollars worth of clad.I found a ring...

or so I thought, until I saw the threads inside. It's a lock ring of some kind.

I did make one good find.

A ladies wrist watch. Not working or worth anything.
After work today, I went back to my old favorite that I have been hunting for over thirty years, I found a clad quarter and dime right off. my next find got my hopes up. I thought it was a silver dime. It was the same size.

I think its just aluminum though. A little while later, I found an old cartridge case,

It's a Peters 25/20, a caliber that you don't see very often.
I was about to call it a day, when I found my best find in quite a while. Something that has eluded me in all my years of detecting, and I sure never expected to find it where I did.
It's a silver Class Ring from Owen J Roberts High, Class of 1968. I never heard of it, so I looked it up and the only one I could find is in Pottstown, Pa. That's a long way from Kansas. There are no initials or name, so I doubt if I could find the owner. The shank is bent, but I'll fix that at work tomorrow. That old park is full of surprises. I found two more Wheat Cents there last week.

Here's another picture of it after I straightened the shank and cleaned it.

Nice goin' on the ring dig! When sectshun8 gets back I want to talk him into hunting a park where a co-workers daughter lost her Mom's class ring. It's a long shot because it was lost 7 yearas ago but I still want to try. HH!!

Very happy that you found a class ring. I can't wait for my first one. Looking so forward to seeing if you can find the owner. Super job my friend. Sonny

You certainly did well. It is always great to find a class ring. The locking ring looks like the kind off of a fishing rod reel seat. Nice variety of finds for sure. Congratulations!!

P.S.

You did a great job of cleaning and straightening it!

Congrats on finding the ring! Very nice find! I live twenty minutes away from Pottstown. Owen J Roberts is the high school for that area. I wonder how it ended up getting lost in Kansas?

McConnel AFB is nearby. Perhaps it belonged to someone stationed there. If there was a name or initials on it, I would try to rturn it.

I know this is an old thread... The Owen J Roberts class ring is a nice find. I actually went to OJR high school for a year. I currently still live in the area as well. My girlfriend even graduated from Owen J. Very nice freshly remodeled high school. Lots of good finds on their sports fields. They all seam to be well to do suburban kids that drop a lot of stuff lol. Anyway sweet find. Especially since its local to me and all the way out there.

This is an old thread. The last day of last year, I found along with a silver dime, my second class ring. This time it was gold. A 1936 East High class ring withe the M.O.P. set disolved. The last thing that I was expecting for my last hunt of the year.
