Default My first finds

So I decided to take advice from the forum and try to learn my MD in my back yard. Earlier this summer I found a handmade nail/spike while digging footings for a deck I was building so maybe that is why I all of a sudden took it out of the basement after having it a couple of years.
Withing a few minutes of swinging it around I got my first hit. After digging quite an ugly hole I found a 1978 penny. Nothing special but man did it feel awesome to unearth. A few minutes later I found the body of an old matchbox car, and a few feet from that the roof to the matchbox car. Across the yard I found another roof to a toy car and some unidentifiable mass of metal. After a while of digging holes without finding anything I got a hit pointing to 6" down. After getting down a ways I hit a small metallic papery looking piece. I cleared it from the hole and swiped again and still had a hit. One more scoop and a large piece of this metallic material came out along with a plastic back wrapped inside it. The bag was sealed with a bread bag tie but was too dirty to see inside. A pass of the MD did not find any metal in it. I was about to open it when I noticed a tear in it and realized I had found small buried pet.
That was it for my days hunting. What a fun time though. Can't wait to get out there again soon!
