I probably have next weekend free. I an north of you in Lynnwood. I remember Auburn as having lots of old leaning barns, that is untill they built Super Mall. Now that whole area is building up.

Default abandoned barns

I'm sure all we have to do is ask the owners lots of farms in the area. I'm thinking their may be some old abandoned shacks on the west valley highway side in auburn their just buried in the undergrowth on side of hill not sure where they are though could also be some old garbage dumps that have been forgotten easy to throw !!!! off the top of the hill. Lee Hill is also very old dates back to the 1850's.

Sounds good to me. I have a little entrenching tool and a collapse able mini pick. If the shacks are in the trees better for us no being seen.

BTW, what happened with those kids you mentioned that chased you to your car? They just show up and started hastling you?

I'm in Federal Way, just getting back into MDing after about 20 yr hiatus.
Been using a Whites 4900 and just dropped the hammer on a ACE 250.
Clever little machine.
On vacation with the family through next weekend.
Might be available after that.
Good luck

Lester WA?

http://www.ghosttowns.com/states/wa/lester.html

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=lester...ed=0CBcQ8gEwAA

We would have to walk in quite a ways, but it might be worth it to detect around the tavern area and near the old barracks site. If you guys are up for walking I could meet you there as far as vehicles are allowed. This would be borderline "extreme detecting" for me

Talking The punks hassling me

They just started running toward me they had their baggies pants and hoodies they didn't look very freindly so I got the heck out of there. The area is heavy with gangs lot of low income housing and traile parks. I figured they werent going to ask me what time it was.

Default Auburn parks

Their are some old parks in Auburn I went to Les Gove last night opened in 1910. Apparently the are resurfacing the parking lot and tore up the aspalt and exposed the dirt and rocks underneath. They threw all the dirt from the islands between the cars in a big pile they built the parking lot 40 years ago. Looks like a lot of good prospects there as well large park they also have a fair every year their. Coins are deep though average 5-12 inches and ground is hard as heck.

Although a ghost town sounds good too just don't have the wheels for it. How far would we have to hump it to get to old ghost town?

Getting used to this forum not posting stuff quite right yet. As I said the area is real ghetto and when a bunch of punks start running toward you and they don't look freindly you generally want to get the heck out of their.

As for those collapsed sheds/houses on side of hill I know that there are some just don't know where. Also problem is that there is serious underbrush/stickers. Might be good just to scout out the area first that way we don't waste our time.

Not alot of barns left here in Auburn counties been buying up land and digging it up and making wetlands out of it sure there was alot of cool stuff there but who knows now its all marsh.

Wife hijacked the car taking it in for the service so I have my truck but cant go to far with it not so sure of its reliability anymore.

Whatever we find in auburn, it will be fun just to hang out with other MDers. I will be happy to find a horse shoe Just have to agree on a rally point in Auburn like the dennies off the exit, or the bowling alley resturant. *I have not been to auburn in nearly 15 years*

I think it's a mile or so in from either direction.

I may just go there Friday night and camp out for the weekend.

I will have to leave in the wee hours of the morning. It's 40 miles to Auburn from Lynnwood. Here's my cell 425-268-3957. Real name is Cris. Denny's is fine for me. I love bacon and eggs. I'm gonna find me a horse shoe!

You guys might want to do a double check on going to Lester. It's in the Tacoma watershed. I think you have a shot at getting in trouble going in there without permission. Also it's a hell of a ways back in there. From the Headworks where you'd have to park, is like 17 miles I believe. You'd be better off I would think for where you all are located, to go checkout Franklin. Much more accesable and closer to. It's just outside of Black Diamond. I used to go up there alot. Just park near Green River Gorge and walk up.

In another thread I mentioned that I spent an hour tracking that down.

I spoke to the Tacoma Watershed Authority property guy. He has seen some of the info posted on the internet and the mis information, we discussed everything in detail.

Just for the record, the only way in is from hwy 90. You must travel West toward Lester and park at the gate, which is located at the entrance to a bridge. There is no room to get around the gate with any 4 wheelers etc, and nothing with wheels is permitted. The watershed Authority also owns the land anywhere close to there, so no camping on the water near the bridge.

You have to walk in about 30 minutes to Lester which is appr 3\4 mile in width. There are warning signs around the town that you can't cross as watershed property. You can camp in Lester, but not near or along any water.

The area is patrolled daily by the guards located at the gate to the West of town.

There have been lots of other detectorists, and others who were just plain looters. Some folks left 3' deep uncovered holes.

The Watershed Authority doesn't mind you walking in to Lester as long as you respect all notifications and leave things the way you found it. Obviously you need to take your trash out with you etc.

There are other ghost town off hwy 90 such as Liberty, Weston and Roslyn I plan find at some point.
