Default Thimbles from karel

Thimbles not so common finds as the coins on my playground but always welcomed. Apart from their more than hazy history.
Most of them I found on fields and that on the pix No.1 I esteem as the oldest. On the thimble No.2 body is inscription GOTT MIT DIR

Gott mit dir is German for God with you
I haven't found any thimbles yet.

Great ..... tools of a bygone era.... although I am old enough to remember them being used, nowadays, no one seems to sew anymore, at least not by hand. HH RickO

Cool

Karel,
congrats to your finds.
The thimble with the inscription Gott mit Dir"
is also german origin and means "God with you".
I guess the oldest one (Pic with Nr 1 on the left corner)
is post-medieval ?
