Welcome from mid Alabama (Birmingham).

You have an older city there and there should be plenty of great stuff to dig, if you can find the right locations.

Plus, you should have relics from the civil war buried in your area.

It is great fun digging things but greater fun digging up the cooler stuff!

Research is the key!
Having a decent detector (which you have), and learning it's language well, is also important.
That takes a little time but it will be time well spent, trust me.

You have plenty of advice, knowledge and support here, just ask if you need anything.
You are going to love this hobby!

HH

Thank you very much. I've only had my F70 for three days. Being a newbie I'm too ignorant to say whether it's any good or not. It was in my price range and had great reviews so I bought it. I'm not sure if I like it or not. It is very noisy. I'm learning how the settings work together and how to get it to shut up. I will say once you get the settings right it works great and will find some very deep targets. I found a quarter on edge at 14 inches in my back yard. I'm a computer nerd so I don't mind fooling with the settings, but I would not recommend it for someone that expects to turn it on and go use it. What do you think?
