Default Lost Rings at Siesta

Hello everyone,
My name is Janell Lowe and I was at the Siesta Key, FL Public Beach today and may have lost my wedding band and engagement ring there. I stumbled across this site and saw that others had posted about lost items and I am giving it a try. I am heartbroken over these losses and I know these rings may be gone forever, but I have read about all the amazing finds you all have had and it gives me a bit of hope . Both rings are white gold, the engagement ring is an oval diamond with small diamonds in the band. The wedding band has alternating diamonds and sapphires in the band and is engraved with "My Reason". If someone found these and would be willing to give them back, I could give a reward. I know this is a long shot, but I have to try. Thank you all so much for your time. Happy 4th of July. I can be reached at 813-787-0411 or jjacobs@southern.edu.
Sincerely,
Janell Lowe

I wish you the best of luck, sorry I`m on the west coast or I would help out.
You might try posting a lost posting on craigslist too, what the heck ...Its free.
It seemed to me someone here posted another site where people can try and be reunited with their lost valuables. If I can think of it I`ll get back,or maybe someone else knows.
Good luck.

You might want to buy a metal detector if you can get back to the beach with it. You can always sell your detector on ebay at a later date. Best of luck

Default Siesta Beach and lost rings

The last week in June I was hunting Siesta beach when a couple approached me to say the VERY lovely woman had lost a chain from her neck which held an heirloom engagement ring and wedding band. They asked if I would mind looking for it and I said of course I would have a go. They took me to the Green Lifeguard stand and showed me an area some 75 ft square which they said they believed it was lost in. Now this was well into the day and I guess nearly noon so you can just imagine the number of blankets, chairs and umbrellas which were occupying that space. I just couldn't see asking THAT many folks to move or imagine invading their space by trying to hunt around each and every party in that area. I hated to decline the request for help but short of the couple running interference for me there's no way I was gonna wade into that bunch of folks with my Excal and scoop. I did return the next morning and gridded off the area and gave it a thorough going over but to no avail. Knowing the sheer number of hunters in the dry sand from the day before and watching the sand raking machines do their jobs as I hunted I knew it was a losing battle. I wish you the best friend. Hopefully the ring you lost has some very easily traceable owner info etched inside. Everyone loves to read about the found and returned items of value and they truly are nice to read but I expect there's more unsuccessful attempts we hunters make to help out which go unrelated.
All the best.
Jim Collier

Good luck, I hope your rings are returned to you. There are some honest hunters out there who will return your rings, but there are also "finder's keepers" hunters too. Please report your loss to the police department, if your rings should show up on the internet, you can claim them with the help of the police. There are many metal detecting forums where people post photos of what they find.

Siesta Key in probably one of the hardest hunted beaches I know of. On certain days I have seen as many as ten or more guys hunting the water and another 5 or 6 hunting the wet dry. I have always joked that if you don't find the ring before it hits the sand its already found.

I ran into a hunter a few weeks back and was talking with him and he said guess what I came to look for a womans lost ring., I was approached by a heavy set woman with a kid and she said to me look what I found digging in the sand with my son and held up a chain containing some rings on it.

So its not always a metal detecting person that finds them.

Good luck. We have some Florida members, not sure if they are close to where you lost your rings, but they will help out if they can. If you are still in the area, try looking for an MD club and contacting them, they will come out to help. RickO

Default Thanks

Thank you to everyone for the kind thoughts and replies. I have been very impressed by the number of people that have replied to me on this site and on other sites where I have posted about my lost rings. So far my rings have not been found, and I know that they may never be or that someone has found them and is keeping them. Once again thank you so much for your replies. I will repost if they are found.
Janell

You also might consider posting your loss items on Craigs List.
Whenever I find something nice I look to see if anyone has posted it's loss.
