Default Need some tips for finding Class rings

Obviously, the best place to find a class ring is at a high school, but I am curious to know where people find them on school property. There is something about them I think are cool and I would like to find some. Where have you guys and gals found them. Bleachers, front, back, ballfield...? Your replies will help in my future hunts . Thanks in advance for the advice . HH

I actually found a class ring around the football field area, not exactly on it though. But, this was while walking along and looking down and seeing it on top of the ground..oddly though it was from the 80's... Also, I have found jewelry under the bleachers...but again, all on top (didnt have a detector at the time)

I would think that most class rings would be lost in front of the bleachers at a football game. The weather gets cold for some of the late season games. Combine that with cheerleaders being somewhat small and football stars being rather big, and cheerleaders are waving their hands around all night. I would think that would be the easiest way to lose a ring.

I found one along side of a public swimming pool.

It is a 1947 college class ring. I never found the owner.

I see where a lot of them are found at beaches.

Happy Huntin,

Class rings, or any ring for that fact, can be found pretty much anywhere. I've found 4 class rings and not one was at a school. I did find a 2004 class ring the first of this year that was at a playing field near a school. I've found 2 in private front yards and one at a swimming hole.

The one class ring I've found was at my old highschool between the senior's parking lot and the closest entrance.

I think what was meant is what are the best settings, like on a DFX to get the optimum search for class rings, then again maybe just ideas where to look, but I would like to know if there are any special settings to optimize the DFX for searching for any kinds of rings, especially class rings...Thanks.

A good tight VDI is what I watch for. Of course when I'm looking for jewelry I look in the places that give the best odds. That would be tot lots and swimming holes in my case. Old playing fields behind schools do very well also.

Knowing the ground you're looking in can help as well. I have a school lot that has the normal trash, but the majority is can slaw. Can slaw tends to have a very big VDI range whereas rings/jewelry more often have a close tight VDI. In this case I ignore any target with a large VDI range(say +4 to +12 on the same target) and dig the tight VDI's(say +7 to +9).

Found them on school yards, old swimming holes, swimming pools, parks, church yards, camp (Scout) grounds, church meeting campgrounds, and beaches of all types. (:-O) Also, when I was in high school, we played football on islands in neighborhoods roadways.
