Default Custom settings

Greetings from Oregon. I am new and I am "mrgarlic" . I am 69, retired from a life of sales. ((mostly garlic sauces )) I have a 2 year old White XLT, and use a Bullseye and a Centex, both are good. I have hunted a lot back in the 80,s. But had to back off for my carreer. Now I have the digitial and maybe you can share some custom settings. I am concentrating on parks so far. I have access to a few virgin properties but I want to learn the XLT before I go there. I also like the beach.
My best finds were a Hidden stash that gave up 100 plus coins, mostly silver and mucho indian heads. We wern't actually looking for this stash but somebody gave us a hot tip that took us dead on. Next best was winning a White 6000 at a club contest. I saw an add in newspaper, paid my $5 and found the winning token. My favorite find was a 1923 S Standing Liberty Quarter. A very key coin. I solt it for $500. I never have found a ring worth more than $5. That is my #1 goal. I am going to South Dakota visiting family and again have access to several virgin homesteads and the locations of circus, carnival and play grounds from 60 + years ago. So that's who I am, where I was and where I am heading. I was on the White forum a few years ago but left due to health problems, Glad to be here and out digging again.

Welcome, from north louisiana!
Can you tell us what type of place your hidden stash is/was? It might give us an idea or two in the areas where we live.

Default The Stash

In 1982, a fireman ( my best friend) found two very old nickels in the mud after a house fire was put out. He quickly called me to came fast with my detector. A quick check found more coins nearby . We had to leave because a neighbor showed up. The “rest of the story” The current owner of the house and 5 acres was 85 and had lived in the house his entire life. (His Grandmothers) She had never worked. The man’s mother never had a job and the man him as well. So we have a 100 + house and nobody was ever employed. Grandma had money!! The family never had garbage service and never threw anything away. The entire 5 acres was covered with blackberries. There were cars, trucks and bus’s that couldn’t be seen. So anyway the county removed the man for mental problems several years back. The house was trashed. We found the money just outside a bay window. Someone had beat us to it. We found the remains of several broken quart fruit jars and the 100+ coins. We interviewed the old man at his nursing home and told him we had found the money and was there more? He said yes, under the willow tree. There was only one willow on the property and it had a steel bed spring and frame all tangled up it the base and roots. Years later I saw that they were going to build on the property. I told the owner the story but by then the entire 5 acres was scraped clean. Jump ahead 5 years and I stopped by again and asked if he ever found any more money. Yes he had, at each corner property stake. He wouldn’t say how much. So now you know the rest of the story.

Hey ! how about some XLT settings??? ( Please )

Hello & welcome to the forum from Missouri, I hunted with a XLT for 7-8 years & the stock coin program was the one I used the most, Heres a good link with some custom settings...They were a bit to much for me but you might give them a try, I think they would go pretty deep but you might get a lot of falsing..

Welcome from Kansas. The Sunflower State
I don't know how to make a link, but try JB's Metal Detecting Resource Site. It has a number of XLT programs.

Only one I have used is the maximum depth program. I don't own a xlt but one of my detecting buddies does. He let me borrow it to look for a cache. I could in a air test lock on a silver dollar at 22".

Good luck, Monolyth
